Newsletter: Time to get good at being bad 😈

Published about 2 years ago • 1 min read

Howdy Folks,

Nim here with another care package filled with love, warmth and well wishes.

Let's talk about failing up and getting comfortable with making mistakes.

Most of us learned to walk by tripping and falling several times, but eventually falling over became embarrassing and scary (she says, as she adds learning to skateboard to her to-do list for the millionth time). As I reflected upon my career today, I noticed how at some point, without realizing it, I became a badass at what I do. I remembered all the mistakes I made, and all the times when I had no choice but to sink or swim. I couldn't help but think warmly about all the tough times I have dealt with and how I wouldn't be who I am today without them.

This made me wonder, why am I still so afraid of making mistakes? There's a Japanese proverb that says "to ask is a temporary shame; not to ask is eternal" in a similar vein, making mistakes, looking bad, failing are all temporary shames.

Have a great day and go ahead and make more mistakes boo, Ta!
