Newsletter: Do I Really Belong Here?

Published almost 2 years ago • 4 min read

Eid Mubarak Lovelies,

Hope you all had a great weekend - I sure did! Hence the Wednesday newsletter 🥲.

Is heatlag a thing?

If you haven't already, we would really appreciate it if you could answer these 4 quick questions:

  1. Do you have a business or are you thinking of starting one?
  2. What's your most preferred way of online learning?
  3. What's the biggest roadblock or challenge you're facing on your business journey?
  4. What would your ideal support hub look like - What needs of yours would be met? How would it be structured? What about it makes it worth paying to access it?

Here's the google form to make it super easy for you to respond, https://forms.gle/uzHxhkrzN3svGrSz8. It's completely anonymous.

The constant feeling of being out of place when our dreams start actualising is quite common and normal. That being said, it can lead to feelings of being stigmatised and over-scrutinised. When you feel like everyone else in a certain environment of position is more qualified or better suited than you are, you tend to be hypercritical of yourself, second guess your every move and believe that others may be waiting for you to fail. This mindset leads to anxiety rather than growth.

Being the powerhouse that you are, I’ll hazard a guess that you’ve most likely experienced Imposter Syndrome before. Particularly as it’s been known to often affect high-achievers.

However, you are not alone. I’ve found when talking to others that they at some point have felt the same way, or are even currently feeling like imposters in their fields. You have worked so hard and you are exactly where you are meant to be.

The Qur'an says in Surah 87:2-3, “The Lord has created and balanced all things and has fixed their destinies and guided them.”

Remember that God has raised you to this position on purpose and it is His wisdom. This is part of your destiny. You shouldn’t feel like you are undeserving, especially when you know all the sweat and tears that went into achieving your dream.

Check out this article, for more information on Impostor Syndrome.

You’ve probably heard some of this before, but I wanted this to serve as your uplifting reminder that you are heading in the right direction and to keep up your awesome work!

I hope it served its purpose in helping you gain a little peace of mind.

Hello friends, I hope you are doing great. Fatima here. I thought today, being Monday, would be the perfect day to talk to you about the pressures of being busy for the sake of looking busy. We live in a time where the idea of hustling and always being on the move is celebrated and promoted. It’s all multiple streams of income, multiple bags, multiple side hustles. Couple that with social media where you pretty much only see the highlights of people’s lives. It’s the perfect recipe for toxic...
